RAZORBACK IS RAISING THE BAR FOR EAGLE SCOUTS
Beginning January1, 2009 Razorback District will no longer accept hand written Eagle Scout Project Workbooks or applications. In this world of technology there is no longer reason to handwrite these documents. If you do not have a computer, some suggestions are to use a friends, relatives, or neighbors, go to the public library, or use the computer that is available at the Springdale Scout Shop.
Both of these documents are available to fill out on-line, save and copy. Go to www.razorbackscouts.org, click on RESOURCES and then EAGLE RANK ADVANCEMENT RESOURCES. The links are there for you to access the forms along with step by step instructions for your path from Life to Eagle. Please read everything thoroughly. If you make mistakes please correct them and print a new copy. No more white out.
The rank of Eagle is recognized by the United States Government. You automatically get a highter rank and pay in the Armed Services if you are an Eagle Scout. This rank does not come easy and much is expected to meet the standards that society expects from an Eagle Scout. Anything less diminishes the credentials of not only the scout but of all Eagle Scouts and the scouting movement in general. Take pride in what you have accomplished.
Your paperwork is the first impression of you that the members of your Eagle Board have. You don't get a second chance to make a first impression and sometimes that first impression is pretty hard to shake.
Remember - Every job is a self-portrait of the person who did it.

YEAR END ADVANCEMENT REPORTING
All advancements earned in a calendar year must be entered through the on-line advancement process by the end of December of that calendar year.
If you have a Court of Honor in March for awards earned sometime the year before, they will never show up on an advancement report if entered after the end of the year as reports are closed and date sensitive. It is very important for your troop, your district and your council to have accurate advancement figures. If you don't have good advancement figures you will have commissioners and me knocking on your door. You don't have to purchase the awards in December, just have them all entered. I know it's one more thing but its very important. Thank you so much for your cooperation.

Merit Badge Counselor Registration Has Changed for 2010
We have revised the Merit Badge Counselor registration system! Please read carefully.
- If you are on the council records as being a registered MBC (merit badge counselor), you will be receiving a letter from the council stating that you are registered and what merit badges you are registered for.
- If everything on that letter is correct, including your personal information, do nothing and you will automatically be re-registered.
- If you have any changes in merit badges or personal information OR you no longer wish to be a MBC, please send that information to the council as per the directions in the letter.
- NOW........if you do not get a letter or you are a new merit badge counselor, you will have to fill out the newest version of the adult leader application and the merit badge counselor form as you have in the past and submit it to the Springdale Scout Shop where I will pick it up and process it. Please date these 2010. If they are not complete, you will not be registered.
- The computer printout at the council is not perfect. Some of you who did not register last year will be getting a letter, check the merit badges listed carefully as they may not be exactly what you registered for last year. Some who registered last year, will not be getting a letter.
- YOU MUST LET YOUR TROOP KNOW OF YOUR MERIT BADGE STATUS! YOUR TROOP MUST HAVE A CURRENT RECORD OF ALL ITS MERIT BADGE COUNSELORS AND WHAT THEY ARE REGISTERED FOR! I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PROVIDE YOU A LIST NOR WILL THE COUNCIL. The computer program does not track by troop number. We can only tell you if you are registered. Troopmaster is a great way to keep your troop MBC list and records. Please keep it updated.
- If you need a specific merit badge counselor, however, I will be able to find one for you.
REASONS YOU MAY NOT GET A LETTER.......
- The person in your troop that you gave it to didn't really get it to the Scout Shop.
- It got lost in the mail
- It got put on the wrong desk in Fort Smith
- Somewhere between you handing it to your troop person, them bringing it to Springdale, it getting put in my mailbox, me picking it up, me bringing it back to the scout shop, the scout shop sending it to Fort Smith, and Fort Smith processing it, it got misplaced. We are all human and we haven't found the black hole(s).
- Your form was not complete and it is still sitting at the scout shop waiting for you to complete it.
- We have your incorrect address
- The dog ate it.
- etc
Please don't call me or the council and ask why you did not get a letter or where your registration is. Please just fill out the two forms to register. With all the reasons stated above,we will not be able to trace last years registration down. SUGGESTION ON REGISTERING NEW COUNSELORS FOR THOSE THAT DID NOT GET AN EXPECTED LETTER..... Advertise a night at a troop meeting where you will be registering MBC. That way it all gets done at once, they can be checked for correctness, recorded all at one time, and sent in as a group. You will need to do this twice, once after these letters have gone out, and again when you get your new Webelos crossovers. New parents are a great resource and it is a way to get them involved right away. Please drop me an e-mail when you have physically dropped your applications off at the Scout Shop. I will then know to expect them and will know when something is there to be processed. jcdenefe@sbcglobal.net. Please register asap. A due date will be forthcoming. Contact me if you have any questions. DO NOT REPLY TO THIS EMAIL -- USE THE EMAIL ADDRESS BELOW!
